THE suspension of UK-registered freight airline CargoLogicAir’s (CLA) UK operating licence and air operator’s certificate has been lifted, writes Thelma Etim.
The decision means CLA, a UK affiliate of Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group, can provide ‘medical’ cargo flights utilising its two B747 aircraft, the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirms.
The news comes after the CAA revealed that the UK’s only main-deck freighter carrier, which operates from London’s Stansted Airport, had its licence and certificate suspended for three months in late February 2020, ‘at the request of the company’.
A spokesperson for the UK Civil Aviation Authority now states: “We can confirm that CargoLogicAir Limited, which operates from London Stansted Airport, has had its Operating Licence and Air Operator’s Certificate suspension lifted in order for them to provide cargo flights using two Boeing 747 aircraft on contracts to provide medical supplies.”
Last November CLA, which launched in 2015, reduced its B747 fleet by two because of ‘ongoing challenging’ market conditions.
“CargoLogicAir will continue to offer ACMI services to its key partners and new clients including the offer of charter services. [We] aim to grow the business again in the future,” explained a company statement at the time.
A month earlier, the carrier installed a digital airfreight shipment booking platform called Cargo One, allowing it to offer its freight forwarder customers unrivalled access to real-time shipment capacity availability and instant pricing options, all in less than a minute.
