LUFTHANSA Cargo has reached another milestone on its digitalisation path with the launch of a 24/7 airfreight shipment e-bookings portal which makes access to the German carrier’s available freight capacity easier and faster, writes Thelma Etim.
Once the customer has defined the type of shipment, selected a product and confirmed the route, the system calculates a price that can be booked directly and immediately, explains a statement. “Changes can also be made afterwards with just a few clicks.”
The portal proffers automatic suggestions and suitable alternative options to assist potential customers, and also has a carbon calculator built into it which measures the CO2 emissions generated by the transportation of the shipments.
Dorothea von Boxberg, chief commercial officer at Lufthansa Cargo, insists: “Most of our customers already book online. With this new e-bookings [facility] we are improving the usability for our customers.
“Access to our capacity with bookable prices is now even easier for them 24/7, although our sales department will continue to focus on the individual needs of our customers,” she adds.
