Customs official held over cargo bribe allegations

A BANGALORE International Airport Customs superintendent has been arrested for allegedly demanding Rs 2.5 lakh (US$4,600) to clear a consignment of silk scarfs bound for a firm in Malaysia.

Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused, India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) website reveals.

The accused went before a special judge handling CBI cases in Bangalore before being remanded for three days in police custody, a statement adds.
